LOS ALAMITOS

Today is special event day for children ages 5 to 14 at Club Los Alamitos. The club is a free drop-in program that the Recreation and Community Services Department sponsors. It features events such as root beer chug-a-lugs, doughnut-eating contests, barbecues, water fights and lip-syncing.

The club is open Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Little Cottonwood Park, 4000 Farquhar Ave.; Orville Lewis Park, 3662 Kempton Drive; and Jefferson Park, 10291 Bloomfield St. It is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the same hours at Labourdette Park, 4001 Howard Ave.; and on Mondays and Wednesdays at Soroptimist Park, 10822 Pine St. Information: (562) 430-1073.
