The City Council is scheduled to vote on proposed increases in trash collection rates later this month. Officials have proposed a 36-cent increase in residential rates, which would raise the monthly cost to $14.71 for three trash bins. Commercial rates would go up $1.24, to $96.34 a month, for a three-yard container, the most commonly used industrial size. The council delayed a vote on the increase this week to study the plan further. Council members are scheduled to revisit the issue June 29.
