HUNTINGTON BEACH

The City Council last week agreed to help finance a movie about Huntington Beach. By a 6-1 vote, the council waived $1,050 in fees for a 10-minute video promoting a proposed film titled “The Huntington Beach Story.” Councilman Dave Sullivan cast the dissenting vote. Producer and resident David Yrisarri hopes the preview video will encourage private funding of the full-length documentary about the city’s 90-year history. Yrisarri said he has had difficulty collecting the $100,000 he needs to produce a one-hour, made-for-television feature that will air on HBTV-3 and possibly KOCE Channel 50. Versions will be made for schools and for the Chamber of Commerce, Yrisarri said.
