Hook Up

Would you like to teach the kids to fish but don’t have the equipment, time or know-how? A free, two-day workshop sponsored by the California Department of Fish and Game offers basic freshwater fishing instruction to kids 7 to 15.

The first class covers techniques, equipment, fish habitat, casting, bait types, knots and regulations. The second session is taught on the water at Huntington Lake.

WHERE TO FISH In Orange County, 10 urban lakes are stocked sporadically with trout and catfish by the Department of Fish and Game. A fishing license is required at all public lakes, but anglers can forgo the annual license for a daily fee at the private fishing lakes listed below.
