Fresno Official to Head Schools in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — Fresno schools chief Carlos Garcia has been named the new superintendent of the Clark County School District, the nation’s eighth largest.
Garcia, 48, is a Los Angeles native. The Fresno district he now runs is the fourth largest in California, with 79,000 students.
In Las Vegas, Garcia will be superintendent of a fast-growing district of 217,000 students.
He was named Thursday to replace Supt. Brian Cram, who is retiring in July after 11 years as schools chief.
