Gray Skies Are Going to Clear Up, but Possibly Return

A steady rain that fell on Ventura County on Sunday night was expected to end by this morning, but weather forecasters were predicting more rain by Wednesday.
As of 8 p.m. Sunday, most cities throughout the county had received about a quarter-inch of rain. The wettest spots were at Matilija Dam, where nearly a half-inch was recorded, and Piru, where one-third of an inch fell.
“It was just enough to wet the grass,” said Stuart Seto, a weather specialist at the National Weather Service office in Oxnard.
Slick roads contributed to half a dozen fender benders on the county’s highways and freeways, the California Highway Patrol said.
Today’s forecast calls for 15- to 25-mph winds, temperatures in the 60s to low 70s and nighttime patchy fog, Seto said.
It should be sunny and warm Tuesday and early Wednesday with a 20% chance of rain from Wednesday night to Thursday morning.
A heavy surf advisory of swells between 7 and 9 feet was expected to be in effect through today.
