Prop. 1A

* Thanks for the warning on the coming tide of slot machines to California. In “Coping With a ‘Vegas’ Fever” (editorial, March 20) you asked if we’d be facing this problem if the ballot description for Prop. 1A had told us its real consequences. I can’t help but wonder if 1A would have passed had its promoters simply been less euphemistic in their marketing to the public--the last I checked, “gaming” means the same as “gambling,” only everyone knows that you lose when you gamble.
