Three students at Sonora High School placed second in the state championships for the Future Farmers of America held in San Luis Obispo this month.
Seniors Amanda Mullion, the school’s chapter president, and Adam Brandos and Erin Dunroe won the title in the Marketing Plan Contest, for which they developed an electronic identification system geared to help cattlemen in California keep track of their steers and plan for the future.
The project included developing plans for a hand-held scanning device to be used with animal tags to access breeding information while in grazing fields.
