Boy Hit by Car Dies
VENTURA — Billie Brooks, the 14-year-old Buena High School student who was struck by a car Monday morning while running to catch a school bus, died Wednesday after being taken off life support, a hospital official said.
Billie, a popular freshman, had been pronounced brain dead Tuesday morning but was kept on a respirator overnight while transplant specialists harvested organs.
