No Damage as 2.9 Quake Hits Huntington

A mild earthquake centered in southeastern Huntington Beach near Pacific Coast Highway and the Santa Ana River caused a few gasps of surprise but no reported damage when it shook for a few seconds Monday afternoon, authorities said.
The 2.9-magnitude quake, felt in parts of the county at 3:06 p.m., was 0.1-mile underground, according to a report from the Caltech Southern California Earthquake Center Data Center.
The Orange County Fire Authority did not receive any reports of damage or injuries.
“It must have been so mild that we didn’t even go into [emergency] earthquake mode,” fire authority spokeswoman Trish Sysak said.
