* Southern California Edison has leased a 120-megawatt power plant in San Bernardino County that it will operate during peak demand to help ease the state’s electricity shortage. The 1950s-era natural-gas-fired plant operated last summer but otherwise has been idle. SCE said it will bid the electricity generated by the standby plant--enough to power about 120,000 homes--into the state electricity market. SCE, a unit of Edison International, will run the plant through Oct. 31.
