Top-seeded players Alex Liang of Fountain Valley and Meiluawati of Orange won their quarterfinal matches at the National Badminton Championships in Orange.
Liang defeated Raju Rai of New York, 15-8, 15-7, in the men’s singles division. Other men’s winners included Khankham Malaythong, Kevin Han and Howard Bach, all of Orange.
Meiluawati beat Shannon Pohl of Illinois, 11-2, 11-1. Fellow Orange residents Cindy Shi and Bonnie Wong also advanced.
Tournament play continues today, beginning at 10 a.m.
