Officer’s Shooting of Suspect Called Justified

Ventura County prosecutors have concluded that the May 7 fatal shooting of an armed suspect by Oxnard police was justified.
Rutilio Gracida Castillo, 23, of Oxnard was shot by one of two officers who responded to a report of a person peering into windows in the 1600 block of West 5th Street.
Officer Michael Robison shot Castillo three times after he advanced on the officers with a knife, authorities said.
In a report issued Wednesday, the Ventura County district attorney’s office concluded that Robison acted reasonably and that the shooting of Castillo was a justifiable homicide. The incident was one of five officer-involved shootings in Oxnard this year.
