Boiler Smoke Forces Building Evacuation

About 50 people were evacuated from a medical office building Wednesday when an overheated boiler spread smoke through the heat and ventilation system.
Twelve people were treated and released at the emergency room of the adjacent Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center, and two were admitted for minor smoke inhalation, said Donald Heinbuch, a spokesman for the Fountain Valley Fire Department.
The incident happened about 1 p.m. when smoke was reported coming from the third floor and roof of the Orange Coast Memorial Health and Breast Center. No damage was reported to the building.
