Heathrow Has Private Lounge for Coach Class

At London’s Heathrow Airport, you no longer have to fly first or business class or belong to a special airline club to get access to a private lounge. But you do have to pay 25 pounds per person (about $40).

In what it claims is a unique facility, the BAA (formerly the British Airports Authority) has opened the Island, a lounge in the arrivals area at Terminal 3, which has 29 private showers; steam-cleaning and shoe-polishing services; satellite television; private work areas with phones, Internet access and copiers; and free self-service snacks and beverages, including wine and beer. All services except credit-card-operated phones are included in the $40 admission.

The lounge is open on a first-come, first-served basis from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Children under 16 are not allowed. Under an introductory offer through March 31, two can be admitted to the lounge for the price of one. Internet https://www.baa.co.uk.
