Federal Energy Commission Chief Resigns

WASHINGTON — James Hoecker, chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, has submitted his resignation only weeks after President Clinton reappointed him to the post.
Hoecker’s departure will allow President-elect George W. Bush to name two people to the five-member commission. Its duties include regulating the interstate sale and transmission of electricity.
Hoecker, with FERC since 1993, has been a staunch supporter of electricity deregulation.
