Saddleback 72, Ventura 68--Desmond Penigar had 19 points and nine rebounds, but the Pirates fell short in their bid to upset the No. 2-seeded Gauchos at Saddleback.

Keith West finished with 12 points and six rebounds, and Alhaji Mohammed had 11 points and three steals for the Pirates (24-9).

Adrian Aguayo had 19 points and five rebounds for the Gauchos (32-2), which has won 27 consecutive games.

Kevin Williams finished with 13 points and Mike Donegan had 12 for Saddleback.
