Nun Fatally Beaten; Monk Admits Guilt

A nun was found stabbed and beaten to death at the Eastern Orthodox Church school in Kendall where she lived and worked, and an 18-year-old monk confessed to the slaying, police said.
Mykhaylo Kofel, a Ukrainian belonging to the Byzantine Monastic Order of the Eastern Orthodox Church, was jailed without bail on charges of murder and burglary.
The nude body of Sister Michelle Lewis, 39, was found at Holy Cross Academy, which shares its campus with the monastery. Authorities said they did not know whether she had been sexually assaulted.
