Protesters Blast Bush’s Environmental Record

Reuters

About 200 chanting environmentalists representing 22 different organizations marched at the White House on Monday, accusing President Bush of doing more in his first 100 days in office to harm the nation’s land, air and water than any previous president.

A towering sign was hoisted in front of the White House gates depicting an out-of-control oil well spewing crude in all directions. Smaller signs said, “No nukes,” “Don’t plunder the planet” and “Stop the rollbacks.” The protest was loud but orderly and brief.
