Lure of Antiques

The canary diamond earrings were $250,000; the English Regency table, $120,000; a panel from a mural aboard the S.S. Normandie was $28,000, and the 1850 Cherokee war shirt $300,000. Those items were the buzz at the opening-night gala for last weekend’s Los Angeles Antiques Show, sponsored by the Women’s Guild of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Honorary chairpersons Robert Graham and Wendy and Leonard Goldberg were among those on hand for the gala.

The guild has raised $16 million since it was founded in 1957. This year, it added the Saul and Joyce Brandman Breast Center to its list of projects. “It’s a year-round job,” said guild president Abby Levy of the event. Joyce Brandman, Pam Rubin and Tracey Ross co-chaired the three-day show, which raised $500,000 from ticket sales.
