Re “School’s ‘Diversity’ Plan Dealt Setback,” Aug. 28: Factoring in an applicant’s skin color is a blatant form of stereotyping, a practice that colleges in particular should stop perpetuating. Instead, why not strive for student body diversity by giving bonus points or incentives to applicants who come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds or neighborhoods?
