The youngest women’s volleyball team in the country might be Loyola Marymount’s.
Seven of the 15 players are freshmen and four are sophomores.
Making matters more challenging: The Lions’ only senior, Eleftheria Koukou, is out indefinitely because of tendinitis in her shoulder.
“There are a lot of young kids out there,” Coach Steve Stratos said. “The kind of schedule we’ve had has made it difficult to ease them into things.”
The Lions (4-3) canceled matches last week against Hawaii, ranked fourth in the coaches’ poll, and Brigham Young, ranked 16th, because of the terrorist attacks.
