Boy, 11, Collapses and Dies at Compton School

An 11-year-old boy died after he collapsed in the hallway of a Compton elementary school Wednesday, authorities said.
The boy, whose name was not released, was returning from recess about 11 a.m. at Rosecrans Elementary School on North Acacia Avenue when he fell for unknown reasons, said Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Lendman.
The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Coroner’s investigators will determine the cause of death, but “the incident does not appear to be criminal in nature,” Lendman said.
