Boy, 8, Dies After Apparent Fall From Bin

An 8-year-old Oxnard boy has died after sustaining head injuries when he apparently fell off a large trash bin, authorities said Wednesday.
Anthony Smith was injured July 23 behind his family’s apartment. He died Monday at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.
Anthony had taken a bag of trash out to the bin when, authorities believe, he climbed on top of the bin and fell. His stepmother found him unconscious and called paramedics.
The death has been ruled an accident, according to Mike Feiler, a deputy coroner’s investigator.
