Springsteen Debuts at No. 1 With Reflective ‘The Rising’

Bruce Springsteen’s “The Rising,” a set of songs mostly reflecting on the country’s mourning and resilience in the weeks after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, entered the album sales chart at No. 1 on Wednesday after selling 525,000 copies in its first week in the stores.
The material on the album, which has been greeted with mostly glowing reviews, is expected to serve as the foundation of Springsteen’s summer tour with the E Street Band. The tour, which was scheduled to begin Wednesday in East Rutherford, N.J., includes a stop Aug. 24 at the Forum in Inglewood.
The other new arrivals in the Top 10 on Wednesday were Linkin Park’s “Reanimation,” a remix version of the group’s hit album “Hybrid Theory,” and Amerie’s “All I Have.” The albums rank No. 2 and No. 9, respectively.
The nation’s No. 1 single remains Wyclef Jean’s “Two Wrongs.”
