Croc Hunter No Crock

It’s one thing to think Steve Irwin a buffoon; after all, Howard Rosenberg is entitled to his opinion (“The Buffoon Hunter,” Aug. 12). But when he says Irwin “earns fancy money using animals as props under the pretense of helping them,” Rosenberg shows he lacks knowledge of the people he writes about.

The Irwins not only own and run the Australia Zoo but also several additional animal conservancies across Australia. Most of the money they earn from the TV shows, merchandise and movies goes back into supporting their work.

Now does that sound like someone who is a “faux champion of animals”?
