Movie Memorabilia Fetch $1 Million

NEW YORK — Financially troubled restaurant chain Planet Hollywood netted more than $1 million in an auction of film memorabilia Saturday.
An unnamed buyer dropped $207,500 for the Academy Award that Bette Davis won in 1936 for her role in the movie “Dangerous,” while another plunked down $35,850 for a stagecoach used in numerous movies. The two items were among the highest priced.
The movie-themed restaurant chain, which expects to emerge soon from a Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection filed in October 2001, sold more than 300 costumes and props in an auction at Sotheby’s in New York.
