Re “City Hall Plays Santa,” Dec. 16: If South Gate’s drawing for a free house is not an illegal gift of public funds it is at least a gross misuse of taxpayers’ money. Ironically, those who generate tax dollars, the homeowners, will not be eligible for the drawing.
If the city has more money than it knows what to do with, why not return it to the taxpayers? The giveaway of TV sets and a free house is outrageous.
