Striking the Flag

Re “Flag Policy Voided,” Jan. 30: It is reassuring to know that the individuals who sued Caltrans to remove all U.S. flags from overpasses, since they could not hang their “At What Cost?” banner up, and the judge who ruled in their favor can sleep safely in their beds. Their good night’s sleep is courtesy of the men and women of our military who have left the safe havens of their families and are laying their lives on the line to defend our country.

We owe unending gratitude to our armed forces, who do indeed know the cost--and know it well.
