Council Rejects Red Light Cameras

The City Council has rejected a plan to install cameras at intersections in an effort to nab drivers running red lights.

The council voted 5 to 0 against the plan at its meeting Tuesday night.

Sheriff’s Department Cmdr. Keith Parks recommended against the proposal after a private study determined that not enough people run red lights in the city to justify the program’s costs.
