Perhaps it’s the orange paint, or the smiling air vent below the bumper. Maybe the slightly rounded shape.

Or maybe it was just a journalist’s fevered imagination at the end of a day at the auto show.

Whatever the cause, the rear view of Mazda’s MX Sport Tourer concept stood out like a beacon at the recent L.A. auto show.

It looks, we decided, as if the designer was inspired by nothing less than the slightly menacing visage of a Halloween jack-o’-lantern.
