Banks in Ventura, Thousand Oaks Robbed

Bank of America branches in Thousand Oaks and downtown Ventura were robbed Tuesday afternoon, federal authorities said. The heists were not related.

The first holdup occurred about 4:10 p.m. in the 900 block of Westlake Boulevard in Thousand Oaks when a man in a business suit handed a teller a threatening note and then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities said.

The robber was described as Asian, 6 feet tall and 200 pounds with dark wavy hair. The robbery may be related to a similar incident in November in Camarillo, said FBI Special Agent Brent Robbins.

The second robbery occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on the 500 block of Main Street in Ventura, Robbins said.

While one robber handed a teller a note and grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash, a second stood by the front entrance wearing a black wig with gold streaks, Robbins said.

The men were white and in their mid-30s. The man with the wig was about 5 foot 4 and thin with a slightly dark complexion. He was wearing glasses and possibly a fake mustache and goatee. The other robber was 6 feet with a dark complexion, clean shaven and wearing a black leather jacket.
