Suspected IRA Members Sued in Deadly ’98 Blast

Relatives of 29 people slain in Northern Ireland’s deadliest terror attack, the 1998 Omagh bombing, served lawsuit papers on five suspected senior Irish Republican Army dissidents. It was the first time any alleged Northern Ireland terrorist has been sued.
An anti-British militant has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for his role in the attack and three other men have been arrested in connection with the Aug. 15, 1998, blast that tore through the crowded town center of Omagh.
Civil suits have a lower threshold of proof than criminal cases.
