Officer Kills Man Trying to Register Stolen Cycle

A California Highway Patrol officer shot and killed an armed man Thursday after responding to a call that the man was trying to register a stolen motorcycle.
The unidentified man was trying to register the motorcycle at California Alternative Registration Service Inc., a private Tarzana company that links up to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
An officer was dispatched to the Ventura Boulevard office after a computer identified the cycle as stolen.
When the officer arrived about 6 p.m., the man reportedly struck him in the head with a gun.
The officer then shot him, CHP spokeswoman Wendy Moore said.
