Monarchs Return to State Park for Winter

The monarchs are back. Every fall, thousands of butterflies return to a eucalyptus grove in Natural Bridges State Park, one of about 30 winter sites for the insects.
The grove will be home through February to 30,000 butterflies.
There are two geographically distinct monarch populations in North America.
The western one winters along the California coast and breeds in areas west of the Rocky Mountains into southern Canada. The eastern population winters in Mexico and breeds in areas east of the Rockies.
