2-Year-Old Dies After Falling Into Family Pool

A 2-year-old boy died Monday after his father discovered him floating in the family’s swimming pool the day before.
Earlier reports had said the boy died Sunday, but authorities later corrected that, saying he had survived overnight on life support before succumbing about 2:30 p.m. Monday. “It was a misunderstanding,” said Lt. Dave Wilson, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
The boy -- whose name was not released -- slipped out of the house Sunday while his father was putting away groceries at the family’s home in the 2000 block of Santiago Canyon Road. The next time the father saw him, Wilson said, the boy was floating unconscious in the pool.
