2 Suspected of Plotting Against U.S. Envoy

Gambian authorities have arrested two people in a suspected plot against the American ambassador in the capital, Banjul, a U.S. State Department official said in Washington.
The plot concerned “a possible threat” to Ambassador Jackson McDonald, he said. A Gambian official said there was a plot to kill McDonald. U.S. officials could not be reached immediately for comment in Banjul, but U.S. investigators reportedly were traveling to Gambia to aid in a probe.
