State Lottery to Take Part in Amber Alerts

Gov. Gray Davis said Thursday the state has expanded its Amber Alert system for finding abducted children to 20,000 retail outlets where California lottery tickets are sold.
Under the new system, the California Highway Patrol will notify the California Lottery after confirming that the abduction of a child 17 years or younger has occurred. The lottery, in turn, will display the information on thousands of electronic terminals and on printed material at convenience stores, supermarkets and other lottery outlets around the state, Davis said.
