Former Schools Official, Firm Guilty of Fraud

A former San Francisco school district official and a computer supply company pleaded guilty Tuesday to defrauding the district of $200,000, prosecutors said.
Desmond McQuoid, 47, of Petaluma pleaded guilty to buying equipment from San Francisco-based U.S. Machinery for his personal use and for a side business he owned, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
U.S. Machinery was sentenced to three years’ probation, a $150,000 fine and $200,000 in restitution. McQuoid, who faces a maximum of five years in prison, will be sentenced in July.
