Tax Break for Military Personnel Clears Senate

From Times Wire Reports

The Senate passed legislation to ease tax burdens for military personnel and their families, 97 to 0. The legislation excludes military death benefits from taxable income, allows reservists and National Guard members to deduct travel expenses and ensures that service members forced to move frequently will not be subject to capital gains taxes on home sales.

The House passed a similar version last week, 422 to 0. The measures must be reconciled before a bill goes to the president.
