Caltech Has Tentative Deal to Buy Tenet Site

Caltech said it had reached a tentative agreement with Tenet Healthcare Corp. to buy the 13.3-acre Pasadena site occupied by the shuttered St. Luke Medical Center.

Santa Barbara-based Tenet, the second-largest U.S. hospital chain, closed St. Luke in February because of a declining patient load, the company said.

Caltech administrators are hoping to close the deal in June, said Jill Perry, a spokeswoman for the university. The sale price was not revealed.
