Freedom to Howl

Re “City Lights Illuminates the Past,” May 27: What a wonderful way to begin the day, reading about Lawrence Ferlinghetti and City Lights Books. I would like to thank Ferlinghetti, the American Library Assn. and all the brave librarians, booksellers and publishers who continue to shine light on the 1st Amendment to the Constitution. What I treasure most about being an American is that I have the right to pick up my pen and use it. I have the right to howl and to “Howl.”
