2 Californians Donate Funds for Recount

From Times Wire Reports

A couple of U.S.-based Taiwanese businessmen donated $4.6 million to finance a recount of last month’s disputed presidential election in Taiwan.

David Sun, who grew up in Taiwan and co-founded Kingston Technology Co., an electronics firm in Orange County, pledged $3.03 million. Kingston’s other co-founder, John Tu, contributed $1.52 million, said company executive Daniel Hsu.

President Chen Shui-bian was reelected by a margin of only 30,000 ballots out of 13 million cast in the March 20 vote. Chen has agreed to a recount, but Taiwan’s High Court still has to work out the details.
