Deregulate at Your Peril

Re “Deregulation Redux,” editorial, Aug. 20: As a small-business owner who suffered during the 2000 and 2001 energy crisis, I have the monthly reminder from my utility bill that I continue to pay for the ill effects of the electricity deregulation scheme. I have only one cautionary note for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and our Sacramento legislators: Don’t even try to make Californians swallow electricity deregulation again. All chances to mess this one up are spent. I can assure you that small-business owners, whether we are flourishing or barely treading water, will remember this in the voting booth.
