Re “Presto, a Better Job Picture,” Commentary, Aug. 25: Poor Timothy Kane and poor President Bush. They actually think that by unveiling this never-before-heard-of “household” survey that we will think the nation is out of recession and that jobs are plentiful. Typical of the Republicans -- drag out some American Enterprise Institute or Heritage Foundation nerd and disprove the facts.

Those of us who are losing homes, declaring bankruptcy and losing health insurance and jobs know darn well what’s going on in this country. Articles by these groups should be run as advertisements, not editorials.
