French emotion

I nearly gagged on my freedom-fry as I read French theater producer Dove Attia’s distinction between Anglo-Saxon and Latin “culture” (“City of Light Musicals,” by Kristin Hohenadel, Feb. 1). Says Attia, “Here [in France] it’s more based in reality, in emotion. What works

Is Monsieur Attia unaware that arguably the two greatest proponents of emotional reality in the theater were Konstantin Stanislavsky and Lee Strasberg? The former was a Russian, the latter an American Jew. Since when does one nationality or cultural group hold unique claim to affective authenticity?
