Former Custodian Cleans Up in Lottery

Geraldine Williams, a 67-year-old house cleaner from Lowell, can afford to hire her own help now.
Williams stepped forward Friday to claim $294 million, the second-largest undivided lottery jackpot in U.S. history.
She will take her winnings from the multistate Mega Millions drawing in a lump sum of $117.6 million after taxes. She said she planned to share her good fortune with her three children and charities.
Williams, who a neighbor called “a bundle of energy,” cleaned homes after retiring as a custodian at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
