Supervisors Oppose Courthouse Closures

From Times Wire Reports

Fresno County supervisors oppose the state’s plan to close courthouses in seven rural communities and replace them with service centers where residents could pay fines or file paperwork but not have their cases heard.

Local officials say the plan will force some residents to travel more than an hour to downtown Fresno for judicial proceedings and will take small-town police officers off the streets for longer periods when they have to testify in court.
