Bush signs park bill

PResident BUSH signed a bill last week to expand Mt. Rainier National Park in Washington.
The bill authorizes the National Park Service to buy 800 acres along a 3-mile strip of land just outside the park’s northwest corner, the park’s largest expansion in 70 years.
The National Parks Conservation Assn. estimates the expansion will cost $4 million, but the Park Service will save money in the long run by avoiding expensive and frequent flood repairs.
