Dead Newborn Girl Found in Trash Bin

Two people searching for recyclables found a dead newborn girl in a trash bin Wednesday afternoon, and investigators were searching for the mother.
Officer Esther Reyes said Los Angeles police were called to a refuse container in the 13900 block of Astoria Street about 2 p.m. The infant was found in a plastic bag. Reyes said detectives from the LAPD’s child abuse unit were investigating.
